Modeling is governed by four interrelated subprocesses, namely: attention,
retention, motoric reproduction, and reinforcement (Bandura, 1971).
First, the model must grab the attention of the subject. The
subject should recognize the essential features of the model's behavior
(Bandura, 1971). For instance, if a celebrity is to model a caring
behavior, the child as the subject, must identify what makes up his caring
behavior, such as the smile, sweet voice, friendly gestures, etc. Second,
the child should retain the essential features of the model’s behavior.
Third, the remembered features must produce actions. Lastly, the actions must
be rewarded in order to be strengthened and repeated.
